Measures of household income and poverty are used to determine
eligibility for many federal and state programs. This policy brief
identifies various poverty measures in use today and compares the income
levels to South Carolina's current self support reserve for noncustodial
parents paying child support. This policy brief was prepared for the
Family Court Study Subcommittee of the Senate Judiciary Committee of the
South Carolina General Assembly, which was reconsidering the level of
the self support reserve in the fall of 2005. |
