The Self Civic Fellows Program prepares grassroots leaders for elected public service. Its purpose is to train candidates to run effective campaigns that are free from questionable practices that contribute to public cynicism about electoral politics. The essentials of managing a political campaign are taught by a variety of experienced professionals in an intensive two day program. Using a framework of ethics and public responsibility for campaign management is stressed.
The Self Civics Fellows Program is scheduled every other year just before the general election filing period opens.
The Self Civic Fellows Program also sponsored the April 2001 lecture “Public Service: A Woman’s Perspective,” which featured four prominent South Carolina women in elected public office.
